What to expect at the pageant
Each Ms. Minnesota Senior America contestant is given the opportunity to present her poise and grace while walking before her audience and the judges. We will assist you so that you will accomplish this with ease. Since we believe that it is the woman who makes the clothes and not the other way around, your gown should make you feel as natural as possible.
Inner Beauty/Philosophy of Life - still in evening gown
This perhaps the highlight of the pageant, as it gives the audience a chance to experience your most cherished belief. Inner beauty reflects the concept that "true beauty" is a matter of insight not eyesight. What is expected of you is insight, inspiration and experience. Thus you should be prepared to deliver a statement (no longer than 35 seconds) which, based on your experience, may inspire your listeners to a richer and fuller feeling that has helped you through the years and still serves you in your present day activities.
Talent - evening gown or costume
During the pageant you will be expected to give a talent demonstration not to exceed 2 minutes and 45 seconds. Your ability to remain posed in front of an audience will be judged as well as your talent. Practice as much as possible before you arrive. Remember, you can help the director a great deal by being prepared. You will be timed!
Be sure to bring any props, materials or items to be used during your talent presentation (paintings, crafts, clothing or special items indicative of your presentation). If you are doing a musical presentation, please bring your music. It is essential that we know if you have someone to accompany you. If not, we need a copy of your music mailed ahead of time so that we may inform our pianist. You must also bring a copy the day of the pageant. Tape accompaniments are allowed but must have your talent number only on it.
The only props that will be available are tables to display crafts, etc. Any other requirements you are requested to bring with you.
Special clothing for this portion of the pageant is not necessary, unless it is essential to your presentation (i.e. a dance costume). If you choose to wear an evening gown for the talent portion of the competition, it is suggested that it be different than the gown worn in the evening gown competition.
Finale - back in evening gown on stage
After each contestant has completed her talent presentation, there will be special entertainment while the judges make their decision. Trophies will be awarded to 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st runners up.
The winner will also receive a trophy, tiara, flowers and a banner declaring her Ms. Minnesota Senior America.
